The MacPherson Institute and the Office of Community Engagement invite you to 4 Experiential Education Lunch ‘n’ Learn Sessions

About this Event

The Paul R. MacPherson Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Excellence in Teaching is teaming up with the McMaster Office of Community Engagement to host the Experiential Education Teaching and Learning Network (TLN). The purpose of this TLN is to provide opportunities for educators (faculty, instructors, staff) to come together, discuss challenges and opportunities, and to collectively develop the solutions. The TLN meets four times per year to host Lunch ‘n’ Learn sessions across McMaster. All sessions take place between 12:00pm and 1:30pm with lunch provided.

Lunch ‘n’ Learn workshops have been designed with your feedback and needs in mind, and will cover topics such as:

Integrating Experiential Learning into Your Course

Thursday, October 24th 12:00-1:30pm in MCDL 2230 ***PLEASE NOTE THE UPDATED LOCATION***

Explore different types of Experiential Learning and how to integrate experiential opportunities into your course. Consider if and when to involve students in community activities. Faculty member mentors will facilitate table discussions. You may wish to bring along a course outline to work from if appropriate.

Reflection Development and Assessment

Thursday, November 14th 12:00-1:30pm in the Mills Library Wong Classroom, Mills Library Room L107

Explore Reflection as a critical tool for the development and evaluation of Experiential Learning opportunities. We will discuss how to assess students’ learning from experiential opportunities.

Partnership Brokering and Tools

Thursday, January 23rd 12:00-1:30pm in the Office of Community Engagement Boardroom, Hamilton Hall Room 103B

Explore the value that community partnerships bring to the classroom and principled approaches to engaging in meaningful, reciprocal partnerships. We will discuss supports available and best practices in brokering respectful community partnerships

Solution Finding Workshop

Join faculty from across McMaster to workshop your challenges into creative and collaboratively-developed solutions in this facilitated, fast-paced workshop.
