Event description

Description

Teaching people how to sing is complex; Coaching a variety of music, diagnosing complex vocal faults, and learning how to maintain your own health as an educator requires an informed approach. As professional vocal coaches, we need to de-mystify this process to maximize our own success as educators, and the success of our students. BackBeat Music Group is proud to host this workshop taught by the incredibly talented vocal pedagogue, Dr. Tara Marlena Laberge. In this workshop we will be covering the following topics:

  • Putting together an action plan: What to look for when working with a new student
  • How to structure a lesson/managing student and parent expectations
  • Clarifying our pedagogical language
  • Maintaining vocal and physical health as an educator

You can expect the following at this workshop:

  1. Teaching on the fundamentals of Vocal Pedagogy
  2. An intermission: snacks and refreshments provided
  3. A hands-on section: Attendees can observe Dr. Tara teaching students live in real-time
  4. A Q&A section to end where attendees can ask Dr. Tara for advice on current struggles and obstacles in teaching.
