Description

Patricia is a Food Engineer graduated in Brazil with experience in the food industry (quality and process control) and an entrepreneur by heart.

Currently, she is a fourth-year direct entry Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Food and Bioproduct Science at the University of Saskatchewan. During her PhD she got involved with entrepreneurship having her first startup (GoBike Fix) in 2017, with the vision to have a mobile team of service professionals who could provide immediate service and give people more time to just ride and have fun. With GoBike Fix she was selected as finalist to pitch at the “Pitch Party with Brett Wilson”. In 2018, she was invited to be part of the pilot “Summer Entrepreneurs Program” in partnership with Global Water Futures, creating SnowHydro Tech that aimed to integrate a project developed at the U of S to effectively measure snow properties, which monitoring would provide more precise data and help to predict and prevent drastic events caused by differing snow levels. The project moved forward being selected to be part of the 2019’s Co.Launch cohort, it won the $5,000 runner up prize, as well as a trip to Silicon Valley and a spot at Co.Labs at the Finale event. Due to the success of the pilot program, the Summer Entrepreneurs (SE) program was launched in 2019. Patricia and her team worked in a technology developed in the Engineering College at U of S, which improves a bio-lubricant made out of low grade canola processing method in addition to improving its performance properties.
