Event description

Description

Working with the TEDx principles to spark conversation and connection, the Intercultural Centre presents this annual event with an aim to engage our campus with the ever changing nature of our local and global world.

The two-hour speaker series welcomes the College community – faculty, staff, and students alike – to attend this dynamic session presenting five talks addressing a wide range of topics that all connect to this year’s theme: kintsugi.

Kintsugi is a 15th century Japanese art form that focuses on transformation, on embracing imperfections, and on finding beauty in unexpected places. As both an art form and a philosophy, kintsugi reflects the concept that acceptance of change is a fundamental aspect of the human experience while expressing an appreciation for resourcefulness in navigating that change.

The idea that there is beauty in the imperfect is woven through each of the 2017 TEDxBowValleyCollege talks that include universal design in education, financial management, difficult conversations with ourselves and with others, and gender equality in an African nation.

Join us this November 23, 2017 for the 4th annual TEDxBowValleyCollege.
