Award winning Nova Scotia artists, Terra Spencer and The Gilberts have paired together for an evening of fantastic music and fun!
About this event
Terra Spencer:
Since her 2018 solo debut, Nova Scotian funeral director-turned-songwriter and 2021 CFMA Contemporary Singer of the Year nominee Terra Spencer has won over audiences by marrying fingerstyle guitar, gospel piano, and her butterscotch voice with onstage humour and 70s wood-paneled warmth. Her self-produced second album Chasing Rabbits was recently named 2021 Music NS winner and nominated for 2021 ECMA Folk Recording of the Year. Terra will join Ben Caplan for a cross-Canada tour in spring 2022 to introduce their new album, Old News. In a room of 5 or 500, every show is a knee-to-knee conversation with a natural storyteller. "The real deal." - Ron Sexsmith
The Gilberts:
Canadian Folk Music Award winners and 2022 nominees, The Gilberts, are a sibling trio from Nova Scotia with a reputation for impactful songs and performances showcasing soaring harmonies and compelling arrangements with Celtic, choral and country influences.
Frieden, Reuben and Maisie Gilbert emigrated to Canada in 2003 and collaborate as a trio to write lyrics and compose and arrange their songs. There is an organic and intuitive flow to that process, and themes that emerge often both surprise and resonate at the same time. There is a wistful and meditative element to many of their songs that often evokes strong emotional responses in audiences.
The siblings will draw selections from their "Harmonious" tour featuring original songs and songs by artists who have influenced their signature three-part harmonies including Fleetwood Mac; Carpenters; Crosby, Stills & Nash; Bee Gees; Simon & Garfunkel; The Mamas & the Papas; and many more!
