Textile Block Printing

Design + Print on fabric! Using simple tools, Heather Young of The Craft Lab will teach you how to carve printing blocks and transfer the designs onto fabrics. Play with the immediate and versatile technique of block printing and build up a variety of patterns. Different materials will be explored using foam, rubber, string and wood stamps to experiment with. At the end of the workshop students will have sample patterns to take home and a completed print on a cotton tote bag. Repeat techniques for half drop, half brick, and mirror will be covered. Novice and experienced makers welcome.

Feel free to bring a piece of clothing to print on. (T-shirts and sweatshirts work well) This workshop is part of a sustainable initiative to use the clothing in your closets and repair, re-use, and renew your relationship with the things we already own. This technique can be used on a wide variety of textiles.

All supplies included. Please bring a bag lunch.
