Description

A exciting line-up of Provocations - 10 minute-long presentations by artists and scholars exploring the histories, presents and futures of textiles in multiple sites, and with a focus on Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal as a locus of trade across cultures, nations, fibres and moments.

Provocations in the form of artist's talks, scholarly papers, video, performance and participatory practice consider Indigenous textile traditions; the role of textiles in colonialism; discussions of local or global labour and environmental textile implications; artistic and technological innovations in textiles; and speculative spheres.

Admission includes morning coffee, vegetarian lunch, and an afternoon reception. FREE with Eventbrite registration, but you must register to allow us to count catering needs!
