Event Information
About this Event
• METROPOLITAN (1935) b&w (75 min.) Dir. Richard Boleslawski w. Lawrence Tibbett, Virginia Bruce, Alice Brady, Cesar Romero. A fine vehicle for the great opera star Tibbett, ideally cast as a talented but struggling opera singer who yearns for stardom. Many opportunities here for fine singing.
• THEY SHALL HAVE MUSIC (1939) b&w (101 min.) Dir. Archie Mayo w. Jascha Heifetz, Joel McCrea, Andrea Leeds, Walter Brennan. A fine drama about an East Side settlement for young musicians, sparked by a young slum child’s interest in the violin after hearing the great Jascha Heifetz in concert. The violin artistry of Heifetz is a highlight.
