Description

The ILPA 2017 Landscape Photography Summit

The International Landscape Photographers' Association's Landscape Photography Summit is a unique event. This is the ILPA’s 2nd annual conference and it’s based again this year in the beautiful town of Banff, in Banff National Park. Banff is one of the premiere landscape photography destinations in the world!

This might be the last for the Summit in Banff for a few years. In 2018 the summit is going on the road to another popualr city. Hopefully to a city close to where you live. Please cast your vote on where you would like the 2018 Summit to be. Follow this link to the online FB poll and have your say on where the next Summit will be.

The 2nd annual Summit occurs each winter on a weekend close to the middle of January. This year it’s in Banff, AB again on the weekend of Jan. 13-15, 2017. The Summit is composed of many things including: presentations by leading professional landscape photographers, s small trade show, a landscape photography day tour of Banff National Park and a one year membership to the International Landscape Photographer’s Association.

Banff is the place to not only come to photograph a spectacular world heritage site for the environment. But also come to Banff to fully immerse yourself into the creative landscape photography process during the conference. Come to Banff and live the passion uninterrupted for a weekend of photography presentations, editing presentations, and come to learn from some of the leading nature photographers in the industry.

A full updated description of the Banff landscape photography summit itinerary with all of the presenters’ biographies, can be found on the website. Keep the website bookmarked and visit it frequently for updates and announcements about the Summit: www.banffphotographysummit.com

Additional Conference Photography Excursions:

Conference excursions are a great way to get out too photograph the amazing landscapes in Banff National Park. This is why we've included the Banff National Park Day Tour in the base Summit registration. Everyone who registers for the Summit will be getting a pass to go on one of the two Banff National Park landscape photography day tours. We believe the Banff National Park Day Tour to be the star attraction of photography tours in Banff and we felt complelled to include it in the base registration. This tour has been a staple tour offering by Brian Merry, your Summit host, for many years. It's a good tour.

However, as landscape photographers we all know that the best way to increase our chances of getting the best photographs is to get out there shooting on multiple occasions. You just never know when the weather will be just right for that perfect shot. So, to increase the chances for you to get that perfect photograph we've added a another sunrise photography photo excursion to the Summit cirricullum this year on Saturday morning.

We also know that Banff National Park is an ideal location for night sky photography. To that end we've added 2 night sky photography excursions as well. We can't gaurantee perfect weather but we will take you out to prime locations given the weather at hand to photograph the night sky.

These excursions are optional and, they are additional to the regular Summit cirricullum. Only Summit Pass "A" or Summit Pass "B" ticket holders are premitted to purchase tickets to these excursions. If you missed out on buying one of the full Summit passes then please contact Brian directly to arrange a private tour for a similar excursion. Seating is limited on each excursion and there are to choose from:

  1. Friday night sky photography 1.5 hour tour (20 seats)
  2. Saturday morning sunrise photography tour (20 seats)
  3. Saturday night sky photography 1.5 hour tour (20 seats)
