“'As developers of the 2,000-unit Victoria harbour development, Bayview Place, and other master planned projects like Deerfoot Meadows and Aurum Energy Park, my wife Patricia Mariash and I have sponsored a biannual UNA-Canada’s “Kenneth and Patricia Mariash Global Issues Dialogue”over the past 6 years in cities across the country. These forums create the opportunity to discuss and debate significant issues facing Canada and countries around the world

Ken Mariash, Owner, Bayview Place

More than half the world’s population lives in cities. By 2030, it is projected that six out of 10 people will live in cities. Despite numerous planning challenges, well-managed cities and communities can be incubators for innovation and ingenuity - key drivers of sustainable development.

Citizens and communities are working together to find solutions that contribute to a better future and better built cities – for all. UNA-Canada strives to create and maximize civic engagement opportunities in communities from coast to coast.

The 2018 Kenneth and Patricia Mariash Global Issues Dialogue brings key housing, finance and political leaders together at a pivotal time in British Columbia as we face a housing supply crisis and the proposed Speculation Tax. Working together to address these challenges of urbanism and community dynamics are the path to solving our supply and scarcity problems. Supply and demand are and have always been, the enduring economic solution. By supporting communities getting back to the basics of good economic policy we will identify practical and realistic solutions that address housing affordability.

We hope you will join us. Please RSVP by June 10, 2018.

If you would like to discuss sponsor opportunities or have any questions, please contact James Lee (613) 232-5751 Ext 228 or james.lee@unac.org

Proceeds from this event will assist UNA-Canada’s Building Young Entrepreneurs – an entrepreneurship training programme for vulnerable (racialized and marginalized) youth in B.C. as event charity of choice.
