The 5 Elements is a dance film that features 5 choreographers who travelled to 5 provinces in Canada with their given elements (metal, wood, water, fire and earth). It is a site- specific dance piece that combines the understanding of the Canadian landscape along with Chinese philosophy.

Viewing of The 5 Elements will be available from March 2nd, 2023- April 2nd, 2023.

Collaborating with five diverse Canadian choreographers from across the country to celebrate the 5 elements while highlighting five unique and iconic locations in Canada. Through the artistic visions of these different artists, the film takes us on a journey to the Union Station at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Nipissing University & Lake Nipissing First Nation at North Bay, Ontario, Polly’s Cove & Peggy's Cove at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Barnet Marine Park at Burnaby, British Columbia, and Le Centre d'Art Marcel Gagnon at Sainte-Flavie, Quebec. Featuring choreographers, Emily Cheung, Samantha Sutherland, Jiapei Ma, Chengxin Wei, and Lydia Zimmer.

The film was captured through the lens of renowned videographers Manuel Garcia and Karen Lam (Vancouver), and included a range of musical arrangements from original classical Chinese compositions to popular contemporary songs.
