Event description

Description

Dementia is the most compelling health risk facing Saskatchewan’s aging population.

Every 24 hours, 10 more people will develop Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia in Saskatchewan.

The warning signs of dementia include changes in abilities, behaviour or communication – the ABC's of Dementia. It’s about more than just memory.

Join us on Thursday October 17th for our luncheon with guest speaker Abby Wolfe, Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, to learn more on dementia, the warning signs, how you can help empower your clients with an early diagnosis, and to live well with dementia

Abby Wolfe has been the Public Awareness Coordinator at the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan since 2016. In this role, she is involved in efforts to raise awareness, build understanding, reduce stigma, and dispel common myths about dementia through the ABC’s of Dementia awareness campaign. She also leads the Dementia Friendly Communities initiative at the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan which helps groups of all types and sizes learn ways they may be more supportive, inclusive, and accessible for people affected by dementia. Having been raised in the rural, southeast corner of the province with a family connection to dementia, Abby knows how important and impactful supports like the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan truly are in helping individuals acrossthe province to learn more and live well.
