This frustrated refugee who went through two wars and three civil wars, lost his father who was executed by Saddam Hussein's regime, lost his two brothers in the civil war and his two best friends to death in Syria, is still very determined to succeed no matter what the consequences!

Singer/songwriter, poet, and virtuoso Oud player Farooq Al-Sajee is glad to be back at the Visual Space Gallery! Since he arrived to his new country as a refugee from Syria, he is restlessly making music and offering Vancouver's audience an espresso shot to explore the best of Arabic and Middle Eastern music, blended with jazz, ambient, contemporary and world music.
Clasically trained, student of the Higher Institute of Music in Syria, Oud and Arabic singing diploma holder, he will be singing and playing different Arabic songs from different countries, showing case the musical and cultural diversity in the middle east.In addition, he will play two new composed pieces on the Oud.
