Event Details

Come learn about Okanagan native plants and discover microscopic photography! We will start with a plant walk on campus, learning how to identify native plants, discussing their ecological roles, and how we incorporate them into our own gardens. Returning to the lab we will use microscopes to take a closer look at the hidden beauty of seeds, bark, leaves, etc. Bring your own camera and try your hand at microscopic photography. You will leave with a new artful appreciation for nature!

Searching for a way to combine her love of nature and art, Stephanie chose to study Landscape Architecture at UBC Vancouver in 2014. Relocating to Kelowna upon completion of her studies, she currently works at a nursery propagating native and water wise plants from seed and cuttings, while running her own landscape design company. She is also a practicing artist (painting, drawing, and photography) and in her spare time she can be found enjoying her own garden.
