Burrell has taught social work students at Dalhousie University and social service students at Nunavut Arctic College, and has trained health care staff in ethical decision making processes. Recently, she was a presenter at the June 2019 North American Basic Income Congress in New York. Burrell currently volunteers as chair of the Central Kings Community Health Board.
