Description

The Beauty of Shore Power

Shore power is a clean technology that enables ships to shut down auxiliary engines and connect to hydroelectric power, thereby reducing air emissions and engine noise. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority introduced shore power for cruise ships at Canada Place in 2009 -- the first in Canada. In collaboration with Global Container Terminals and DP World Vancouver and funded by Transport Canada and the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, construction is currently underway to install shore power for container ships at Centerm Berth Five and Deltaport Third Berth. Container ships visiting the Port of Vancouver will be able to access shore power in Spring 2018.

Join us for this free presentation to learn:

  • how shore power works and who uses it
  • how it reduces noise and emissions
  • when it will be available at Deltaport

Guest speakers:

Carol Macfarlane, Senior Project Management Advisor, Vancouver Fraser Port Authority

Gary Olszewski, Environmental Specialist, Vancouver Fraser Port Authority
