Description

This seminar demonstrates the importance of learning Cantonese as a child

(The seminar will be spoken in English, Cantonese and Putonghua)

You will comprehend the "Psychological Perspective"

In the crux of the psychological perspective, bilingualism is believed to be natural and family support is important. Being bilingual is beneficial to the cognitive development of children, parallel to that of a brain exercise.

You will understand the "Cultural Perspective"

In a cultural context, we should not give up a language which advocates for your very identity and ethnical background. Instead, we should speak the language of our heritage at home at a developmental age while being cultivated by proper teaching.

You will learn about the "Linguistic Perspective"

The same syllable, pronounced with different tones, may transpire to become different words and have different meanings. Evidence shows that it is easier for young children to master different tones along with the graphemes of Chinese characters at an early age.

Who should come to this seminar

  • Parents who have young childern
  • Individuals who are interested in lanaguage development
  • Anyone who cares to explore the Catonese culture
