About this event

Are you a Black undergraduate or graduate student who is thinking about attending a law school or is curious about a career in law?

This conference is for you!

This conference is hosted by UBC BLSA and Allard Law and will be held over zoom. It will include a variety of events meant to provide a glimpse into the life of law student and lawyer as well as practical information on where to start.

The days activities include an information and Q&A session led by Allard Law's admissions team. In addition, there will be a mock lecture by Professor Nikos Harris, QC (one of the most popular professors at Allard Law and a renowned criminal lawyer).

There will also be a legal professionals panel featuring lawyers from BC. They will share their experiences in the legal profession and provide answers to any questions you may have!

We are also so excited to announce our key note speaker: Lesra Martin.

Lesra's work in getting the late Rubin "Hurricane" Carter freed from a wrongful conviction was portrayed in the critically acclaimed film "Hurricane". That, however, is just one part of his story. Join us to hear from him about his inspiring journey from adversity to advocacy.

Free lunch (via Uber Eats gift cards) will be provided to registered attendees. During lunch students will have the opportunity to network with lawyers and Allard Law students .

Please note, Uber eats, zoom information and the finalized conference schedule will be provided to registrants via email prior to the event.

We hope to see you there!
