Speakers:

Anthony Lacavera, the Chairman and CEO of Globalive Technology, is supported by a leadership team with extensive blockchain, technology, investment and corporate governance experience. As Chairman and Founder of Globalive Capital, Anthony is best known for founding WIND Mobile in 2007, which became Canada's fourth largest wireless carrier before being sold in 2015 to Shaw Communications for $1.6 Billion. Alex Mashinsky is one of the inventors of VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) with a foundational patent dating back to 1994 and is now working on MOIP (Money Over Internet Protocol) technology. Over 35 patents have been issued to Alex, relating to exchanges, VOIP protocols, messaging and communication. Alex is a serial entrepreneur and founder of seven New York City-based startups, raising more than $1 billion and exiting over $3 billion. Alex founded two of New York City’s top 10 venture-backed exits since 2000: Arbinet, with a 2004 IPO that had a market capitalization of over $750 million; and Transit Wireless, valued at $1.2 billion. Alex has received numerous awards for innovation, including being nominated twice by E&Y as ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’, in 2002 & 2011; Crain’s 2010 Top Entrepreneur; the prestigious 2000 Albert Einstein Technology medal; and the Technology Foresight Award for Innovation (presented in Geneva at Telecom 99). As one of the pioneers of web-based exchanges, Alex authored patents that cover aspects of the Smart Grid, ad exchanges, Twitter, Skype, App Store, Netflix streaming concept and many other popular web companies. Additionally, Arbinet’s fundraising story was featured as a case study in 2001 by Harvard Business School.

Lylan Masterman - An experienced former Software Engineer and Product Manager, Lylan leverages his experience in leading technology teams as a General Partner at White Star Capital. In 2004 he joined the Atlas division of aQuantive to help lead the company’s rich media advertising platform, targeting product, user experience and internationalization; three years later the company was acquired by Microsoft for $6.2bn. Lylan has also led product organizations for four early-stage companies, worked as an engineer on WebTV at Microsoft and a technology evangelist at Microsoft Research, and was a member of the product team for the first version of VisualStudio .NET. Lylan is a Kauffman Fellow (class 19) and holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management. He’s lived in Canada, both east and west coasts of the US, and now calls New York his home.

Mike Adler brings over 20 years of experience working with highly scaling venture backed and mature companies in the media, entertainment and emerging technology space. He leverages a diverse background in investment banking, venture capital, business development, recruitment, sales and “hands on” operational experience. In his career, he has successfully helped dozens of companies scale from inception to exit by providing them with his expertise in capital raising, providing operational, financial, and strategic guidance, to securing key “C” and mid-level talent. Adler currently is the Senior Managing Partner at a Human Capital/Executive Search and Consulting firms AC Lion International and Lionseye Group (Retained), Over the past several years, Mr Adler has expanded their industry focus to Blockchain where they are working with companies like Madnetwork.io, Fr8, Singular.dtv, Portion.io, tradeduel, Coindesk and many more advisiing on ICO strategies and Recruitment to build out their teams.

Brent Xu leads the Vulcan Research Team A at ConsenSys, and is Chief Research Officer of the Dendrobium Project. His focus is on blockchain product architecture and building out infrastructure layer systems for enterprise use cases. He creates viable platforms for executing production-grade functionality alongside the protocol development group and enterprise consulting teams. His areas of expertise at ConsenSys include enterprise software systems and capital markets as they relate to the Ethereum blockchain and other global software platforms. Brent comes from a professional background in fixed income trading and research with specialties in structured finance products and asset securitizations, where he pioneered innovative approaches to analyzing CMBS derivatives through quantitative analytics. Toward validating trading strategies, Brent specialized in optimizing financial analytics platforms through improvements in architectural and database design. Brent has an international background in working with multinational corporations, blockchain startup organizations as well as government entities. He graduated from Duke University with a BS and MS degree where he studied systems biology/bioinformatics and business management.

Jim Orlando is a Managing Partner of OMERS Ventures and leads investments in North American high-growth technology, media, and telecommunications companies. With more than 17 years of experience in venture capital and private equity, Jim has a strong track record of finding deals, closing investments, and working directly with founders, CEOs and management teams on the development and growth of their businesses. He is responsible for OMERS Ventures' investments in Citizen Hex, Digital Currency Group, Jobber, Mojix, Nudge, Ranovus and Wattpad. Jim also led OMERS Ventures’ investment in Shopify (NYSE, TSX: SHOP). Prior to joining OMERS Ventures, Jim was a Managing Director at OMERS Private Equity, which directly owns and actively manages a diversified, multi-billion dollar portfolio of investments in North America and Europe. Jim led direct investments in the manufacturing, software, mobile telephony and retail sectors.

Eric So is the Co-founder, Managing Director, and Chief Strategy Officer for Globalive Technology Partners Inc. He also serves as Chairman of HyperBlock Technologies Corp., a leading cryptocurrency mining company with diversified operations, and as a Director of Therapix Biosciences Ltd. He has over 15 years’ experience advising both private and public companies, and recently served on the executive committee of Mundo Inc. as Chief Legal and Corporate Development Officer. An alumnus of Torys LLP, Eric holds a Bachelor of Science from McGill University and a law degree from the University of Windsor. Eric is heavily involved in charity work within his community.

Adam Helfgott is the CEO and Project Lead of MAD Network, the first contextually-aware blockchain protocol to enable the future of advertising innovation with privacy by design. Anchored in strong cryptography and private edge computing, MAD removes unnecessary intermediaries and eliminates fraud while helping advertisers more effectively reach their consumer. Adam is also CEO of MadHive, a venture backed Ad-Tech company as well as built and sold marketing technology companies eCamp.net (http://ecamp.net/) and Lookbooks.com (http://lookbooks.com/), and advised leading companies including IMG/WME, and Gem, an enterprise blockchain company.

Bruce Silcoff is a serial entrepreneur and visionary with proven track record of success. He is currently consumed with any and all disruptive blockchain solutions including digital banking, payment-processing, Forex., cryptocurrencies, ICOs, and more. Bruce is providing thought leadership and strategic guidance via board participation. He has experience in Loyalty, Health & Wellness, Private Equity, Social Media, Data, Payments & More.

Charles ("CJ") Gelinas is a partner in Dentons' Capital Markets practice, with a concentration on distributed ledger and cryptocurrency transactions, fintech and consumer finance transactions. CJ currently leads Dentons' US Distributed Ledger Technology practice. He represents digital token issuers and other participants in token generating events and cryptocurrency-related transactions, advising on a host of issues relating to blockchain-driven technology. He also represents issuers, underwriters, lenders and borrowers in all aspects of commercial and residential mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed securities and other structured products, including structured and traditional warehouse transactions, asset-based financings, repurchase agreements and other financing structures such as rehypothecation and repledge facilities, involving mortgage assets, real estate owned (REO) property, home equity lines of credit (HELOCs), mezzanine loans, triple net leases, participation interests, debt settlement loans, installment and payroll deduction loans, consumer leases, unsecured personal loans, debt securities and equity securities.

Fady Yacoub is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner at HOF Capital, where he focuses on tech-driven companies across sectors. He has a particular interest in energy, education, media, and blockchain. Prior to HOF Capital, Fady worked at Digital World Capital, a technology focused hedge fund, helping the firm expand its investment portfolio in Asia by overseeing the firm’s investment in Baidu and Qihoo 360. Fady also syndicated an SPV that invested into the Alibaba IPO. (NYSE:BABA) and prior to that was a Data Analyst at Switch (NYSE:SWCH). Earlier in his career, Fady held multiple positions at El Tholathia Corp Egypt (ETC). He led ETC's industrial development team in deploying a new home appliances factory in the Sudan. Through ETC’s real estate development arm, he led the development team for 400,000 m2 on Egypt's North Coast. Fady earned both a BS and BA in Business Administration & Psychology from the University of Southern California.

Jarrod Dicker is an entrepreneurial technology and media executive. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Po.et, a platform for a new decentralized media economy. Prior to Po.et, Dicker served as innovation chief at the Washington Post as Vice President of Innovation and founded RED, the Post's research experimentation and development team. There he oversaw the companies technology, product, operations and strategy across the entire business. Before the Washington Post, Dicker lead strategy, product and technology teams at RebelMouse, Time Inc. and the Huffington Post. He also sits on the Board of Advisors for Rutgers University School of Innovation and Mogul Inc., a technology platform that enables women worldwide to share ideas and access content based on personal interests.

Jon Fox, a serial entrepreneur, began his career trading merchandise globally from his home at 20 years old. Within a couple years, he had turned his hobby into a 25 million dollar distribution company. Fox has spun up and exited multiple companies in the transportation and food services verticals, including Beachwood Distribution, and Deja Foods and currently owns Lewisco Holdings, an international distribution company. Over the course of his career Fox has shipped billions of dollars in cargo. Most recently, Fox co-founded Fr8 Network. Recognizing the fractured nature of the $13 trillion global logistics industry, Fr8 Network is developing the Fr8 Protocol, a standardized protocol data layer creating seamless information flow throughout the entire logistics chain by allowing any system to connect to the same data as the single source of truth. The Fr8 Protocol defines data and connectivity standards for any stakeholder in any region, enabling new efficiencies and capabilities for logistics systems worldwide. Fox also serves as Managing Director of 2857 Capital, a family investment office. His expertise focuses specifically in capital markets, and marketplace opportunities that unite fractured industries. Fox is an advocate of distributed systems and their impact on both social and economic systems. He is a frequent public speaker, offering thought leadership on how blockchain will impact the future of freight, logistics, and supply chain.
