Alex Mashinsky is one of the inventors of VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) with a foundational patent dating back to 1994 and is now working on MOIP (Money Over Internet Protocol) technology. Over 35 patents have been issued to Alex, relating to exchanges, VOIP protocols, messaging and communication. Alex is a serial entrepreneur and founder of seven New York City-based startups, raising more than $1 billion and exiting over $3 billion. Alex founded two of New York City’s top 10 venture-backed exits since 2000: Arbinet, with a 2004 IPO that had a market capitalization of over $750 million; and Transit Wireless, valued at $1.2 billion. Alex has received numerous awards for innovation, including being nominated twice by E&Y as ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’, in 2002 & 2011; Crain’s 2010 Top Entrepreneur; the prestigious 2000 Albert Einstein Technology medal; and the Technology Foresight Award for Innovation (presented in Geneva at Telecom 99). As one of the pioneers of web-based exchanges, Alex authored patents that cover aspects of the Smart Grid, ad exchanges, Twitter, Skype, App Store, Netflix streaming concept and many other popular web companies. Additionally, Arbinet’s fundraising story was featured as a case study in 2001 by Harvard Business School.

Taotao is the Co-founder and CEO of HGR Digital Asset Group, he's also a Senior Investment Associate at Marto Capital. Prior to launching his own crypto hedge fund and working with Marto Capital, he worked at various financial institutions; Bridgewater Associates, Barclays Capital, and Goldman Sachs. Taotao also invests in seed / early-stage ventures with his most recent investment: VEEPIO (Backed by the NFL and World Champion Philadelphia Eagles). He graduated from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business.

Lylan Masterman - An experienced former Software Engineer and Product Manager, Lylan leverages his experience in leading technology teams as a General Partner at White Star Capital. In 2004 he joined the Atlas division of aQuantive to help lead the company’s rich media advertising platform, targeting product, user experience and internationalization; three years later the company was acquired by Microsoft for $6.2bn. Lylan has also led product organizations for four early-stage companies, worked as an engineer on WebTV at Microsoft and a technology evangelist at Microsoft Research, and was a member of the product team for the first version of VisualStudio .NET. Lylan is a Kauffman Fellow (class 19) and holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management. He’s lived in Canada, both east and west coasts of the US, and now calls New York his home.

Mike Adler brings over 20 years of experience working with highly scaling venture backed and mature companies in the media, entertainment and emerging technology space. He leverages a diverse background in investment banking, venture capital, business development, recruitment, sales and “hands on” operational experience. In his career, he has successfully helped dozens of companies scale from inception to exit by providing them with his expertise in capital raising, providing operational, financial, and strategic guidance, to securing key “C” and mid-level talent. Adler currently is the Senior Managing Partner at a Human Capital/Executive Search and Consulting firms AC Lion International and Lionseye Group (Retained), Over the past several years, Mr Adler has expanded their industry focus to Blockchain where they are working with companies like, Fr8,,, tradeduel, Coindesk and many more advisiing on ICO strategies and Recruitment to build out their teams.

Brent Xu leads the Vulcan Research Team A at ConsenSys, and is Chief Research Officer of the Dendrobium Project. His focus is on blockchain product architecture and building out infrastructure layer systems for enterprise use cases. He creates viable platforms for executing production-grade functionality alongside the protocol development group and enterprise consulting teams. His areas of expertise at ConsenSys include enterprise software systems and capital markets as they relate to the Ethereum blockchain and other global software platforms. Brent comes from a professional background in fixed income trading and research with specialties in structured finance products and asset securitizations, where he pioneered innovative approaches to analyzing CMBS derivatives through quantitative analytics. Toward validating trading strategies, Brent specialized in optimizing financial analytics platforms through improvements in architectural and database design. Brent has an international background in working with multinational corporations, blockchain startup organizations as well as government entities. He graduated from Duke University with a BS and MS degree where he studied systems biology/bioinformatics and business management.

Hooman Mehranvar is responsible for researching and executing on investment opportunities in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) sectors. Prior to joining OMERS Ventures, Hooman was the General Manager of Toronto at Sonder, a hospitality-tech startup, where he oversaw the operations and business development of the local market. His responsibilities included optimizing market profitability, implementing operational efficiencies and vendor management. Before Sonder, Hooman spent 6+ years in strategy and IT consulting at Bain & Company and Deloitte where he worked with Fortune 500 companies to address their strategic priorities. His focus areas at Bain included new market entry, pricing and digital strategies. While at Deloitte, Hooman led several software implementations for clients looking to improve business intelligence and predictive analytics capabilities. Hooman holds an MBA from Columbia University and completed his Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Toronto.

Eric So is the Co-founder, Managing Director, and Chief Strategy Officer for Globalive Technology Partners Inc. He also serves as Chairman of HyperBlock Technologies Corp., a leading cryptocurrency mining company with diversified operations, and as a Director of Therapix Biosciences Ltd. He has over 15 years’ experience advising both private and public companies, and recently served on the executive committee of Mundo Inc. as Chief Legal and Corporate Development Officer. An alumnus of Torys LLP, Eric holds a Bachelor of Science from McGill University and a law degree from the University of Windsor. Eric is heavily involved in charity work within his community.

Adam Helfgott is the CEO and Project Lead of MAD Network, the first contextually-aware blockchain protocol to enable the future of advertising innovation with privacy by design. Anchored in strong cryptography and private edge computing, MAD removes unnecessary intermediaries and eliminates fraud while helping advertisers more effectively reach their consumer. Bruce Silcoff is a serial entrepreneur and visionary with proven track record of success. He is currently consumed with any and all disruptive blockchain solutions including digital banking, payment-processing, Forex., cryptocurrencies, ICOs, and more. Bruce is providing thought leadership and strategic guidance via board participation. He has experience in Loyalty, Health & Wellness, Private Equity, Social Media, Data, Payments & More.

Fady Yacoub is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner at HOF Capital, where he focuses on technology-driven companies across sectors including energy, education, media, and blockchain. Prior to HOF Capital, Fady worked at Digital World Capital, a technology-focused hedge fund, helping the firm expand its investment portfolio in Asia by overseeing the firm’s investment in Baidu and Qihoo 360. Prior to that, he was a Data Analyst at Switch (NYSE:SWCH). After DWC, Fady syndicated an SPV that invested into the Alibaba IPO (NYSE:BABA). Fady earned both a BS and BA in Business Administration & Psychology from the University of Southern California.

Jarrod Dicker is an entrepreneurial technology and media executive. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of, a platform for a new decentralized media economy. Prior to, Dicker served as innovation chief at the Washington Post as Vice President of Innovation and founded RED, the Post's research experimentation and development team. There he oversaw the companies technology, product, operations and strategy across the entire business. Before the Washington Post, Dicker lead strategy, product and technology teams at RebelMouse, Time Inc. and the Huffington Post. He also sits on the Board of Advisors for Rutgers University School of Innovation and Mogul Inc., a technology platform that enables women worldwide to share ideas and access content based on personal interests.

W. Scott Stornetta, Ph.D. While working at Bell Communications Research (Bellcore), Dr. Stornetta co-invented, along with Stuart Haber, the blockchain technique. This helped lay the foundation for Bitcoin and other digital currencies (for example, of the eight citations in the original Bitcoin paper, three reference his and Dr. Haber’s work). Along with Dr. Haber, he co-founded Surety, a Bellcore spinoff. Surety’s offering constituted the first commercial deployment of a blockchain. Dr. Stornetta finished at Bellcore as Assistant General Manager of the 125-person Mathematical and Computer Sciences Laboratory. Dr. Stornetta consulted for many years, evaluating the commercial potential of emerging technologies on behalf of universities, commercial research labs, and venture capital interests. Dr. Stornetta received his Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University, after attending MIT, Harvard, and Brigham Young University.

Jon Fox, a serial entrepreneur, began his career trading merchandise globally from his home at 20 years old. Within a couple years, he had turned his hobby into a 25 million dollar distribution company. Fox has spun up and exited multiple companies in the transportation and food services verticals, including Beachwood Distribution, and Deja Foods and currently owns Lewisco Holdings, an international distribution company. Over the course of his career Fox has shipped billions of dollars in cargo. Most recently, Fox co-founded Fr8 Network. Recognizing the fractured nature of the $13 trillion global logistics industry, Fr8 Network is developing the Fr8 Protocol, a standardized protocol data layer creating seamless information flow throughout the entire logistics chain by allowing any system to connect to the same data as the single source of truth. The Fr8 Protocol defines data and connectivity standards for any stakeholder in any region, enabling new efficiencies and capabilities for logistics systems worldwide. Fox also serves as Managing Director of 2857 Capital, a family investment office. His expertise focuses specifically in capital markets, and marketplace opportunities that unite fractured industries. Fox is an advocate of distributed systems and their impact on both social and economic systems. He is a frequent public speaker, offering thought leadership on how blockchain will impact the future of freight, logistics, and supply chain.

Richard Eisert is a partner in Davis & Gilbert’s Digital Media, Technology & Privacy Practice Group, Co-Chair of the firm’s Advertising, Marketing & Promotions Practice Group and the New Ventures Committee. His clients include ad tech, digital media and other technology companies, many of which are start-ups. His practice includes drafting and advising on contracts related to online advertising and e-commerce, data acquisition and security, and multimedia, software, music and technology licensing. Mr. Eisert’s practice also includes advising on specific legal and regulatory issues that affect e-commerce and online advertising, including privacy and the enforceability of electronic transactions. In the intellectual property arena, he advises on the protection, maintenance and licensing of copyrights, trademarks, patents and trade secrets.

Chris Eben is a Managing Partner at TWG, a product consultancy with deep expertise in digital strategy, product design and engineering. He is a mentor, speaker and active investor with a portfolio of more than 25 startups throughout the US and Canada. Chris joined TWG after a lengthy career running product teams in the Enterprise Software Market, focused on Business Intelligence, Analytics and Performance Management. He’s worked for startups and with large organisations and has helped to build teams in Silicon Valley, London, England and his hometown of Toronto. At TWG, he leads a growing team of 140 product managers, user researchers, designers and engineers that work with innovators from funded startups to large enterprises building software used by millions. Chris holds an MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management.

Manny Puentes is an experienced executive leader in the digital advertising and software industries. With more than 20 years of experience in digital advertising, Manny has led engineering and product teams to build a number of enterprise-scaled platforms for digital media trading by leveraging specialties in real-time bidding, data pipeline architecture, natural language processing, and machine learning. He also earned 11 issued patents in collaborative communications. He is the CEO and founder of Rebel AI, a Colorado-based startup focused on bringing security to digital advertising with blockchain and cryptographic verification.

Sloane Brakeville is the co-founder and CEO of Fr8 Network. Previously he was a Blockchain Specialist at IBM’s Blockchain Labs. He’s been involved with Blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies since 2013. While at IBM’s Blockchain Labs, Sloane was responsible for the success of projects in the Finance, Media and Entertainment, Supply Chain, and Healthcare industry verticals. Before joining the IBM Blockchain Labs, Sloane was building apps for iPhones and iPads. He originally joined IBM as a consultant for Salesforce CRM development.

Giuseppe Gori, CEO, Gorbyte Inc. Received his doctorate’s degree in Computer Science, University of Pisa, Italy and was assistant professor of Computer Science at the University of Pisa and visiting professor at Western University in London. He has vast experience in computer network research and development, with the IBM Scientific Center in Italy and with the IBM Development Lab in Don Mills, Canada. Giuseppe represented Canada at international meetings on Open Systems Interconnection and was chairman of the ISO Canadian Working Group on Open Distributed Processing - Systems Management. He consulted for several major communication companies in Toronto (e.g., Bell Canada, AT&T) and had the experience of running his consulting business plus two other startups, before starting Gorbyte Inc.

Now referred to as "the Pulver Order", the ruling provides important clarification that computer-to-computer VoIP service is not a telecommunications service. By doing this, the FCC delivered a strong signal to consumers and capital markets that the FCC is not interested in subjecting end-to-end IP Communications services to traditional voice telecommunications regulation under the Communications Act.
