Event description
A workshop for young professionals to explore systemic causes of burnout and learn proactive strategies to address it.

About this Event

We live in a fast-paced, digital-first, hyper-connected world. We are glued to our screens. Comparisons are too convenient to make. Work follows us home. Every task on our to-do list must be optimized for efficiency. Busyness is worn as a badge of honour. It’s hard to get a break. What has this led to? The burnout epidemic.

“Burnout” refers to the impacts of facing prolonged periods of intense mental, physical, and emotional stress due to overworking, whether in professional, academic, entrepreneurial, or social contexts. All too common experiences involve feeling deeply exhausted, depleted, indifferent, irritable, unproductive, stagnant, and cynical. Although burnout is an experience that many go through, it is rarely discussed and often isolating. The purpose of this project to create a space where community members can share their stories without judgement and explore systemic causes behind our compulsion to work harder than we can actually sustain.

Join us for our third workshop, where we'll begin with a facilitated dialogue on burnout followed by an engaging session on Energy Management hosted by Cole Nakatani from Hydra Labs. Here, we will learn tangible strategies and tools to better prevent, detect, and recover from burnout.

During this workshop, you will:

  • Connect with other driven young professionals, students, and changemakers who are also seeking to understand their relationships to stress, mental wellbeing* and burnout.
  • Discuss, explore, and uncover sources of burnout.
  • Learn and apply practical strategies to better manage your energy and prevent burnout.

We would like to acknowledge that our event is taking place on the traditional territories of the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.
