Description

Nutrition is an ever-changing and growing science that affects each person individually. Throughout this presentation, we look at the hurdles that contribute to proper nutrition, the needs from a performance standpoint and compare those needs to the needs of a sedentary lifestyle. We will explore how to properly calculate the energy intake and expenditure based on various types of activity or lifestyles. We will discuss the breakdown of macronutrients (Carbohydrates, Protein, Fats), the specific needs of micronutrients, and hydration for performance. As well, an emphasis will be put on defining the current diet trends surrounding exercise and the use or lack of use of supplements in performance. Questions on any of these topics can be sent in beforehand to promote in-depth discussion and understanding.
