Session 2: Human Rights and the Corporation

Presented by CIGI and HRREC

This four part virtual panel series is presented by the Centre for International Governance Innovation in collaboration with the Human Rights Research and Education Centre (HRREC) of the University of Ottawa. It celebrates the publication of CIGI’s newest book, Corporate Citizen: New Perspectives on the Globalized Rule of Law, which explores the legal frameworks and standards of conduct for multinational corporations.

This session focuses on the human rights impact of multinational corporations, what they are doing to address this issue, and what national governments and international institutions are doing to strengthen corporate accountability. Expert panelists will discuss how human rights have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and how corporations are both contributing to and working to mitigate these effects. They will consider how government and industry action in the coming months could strengthen socio-economic justice and shape a sustainable recovery from COVID-19.

Registration for the other sessions is also open!
