About this event
In an isolated shack on the remote peak of an island, a strange man seeks refuge from the family of a professor who claims to have befriended him in the war prison camps in Africa. With only the vast, barren landscape and an abundance of goats for company, it isn't long before the stranger begins to manipulate and corrode the family dynamic... and they begin to plot their revenge.
Betti's iconic post-war play provides a deeper analysis on the consequences of war on the women that were left behind, on the nature of humanity and the capacity for cruelty, and the small moments in between that restore hope in the midst of the horror that rages both inside and out of one's own home.
The Crime on Goat Island was arranged with special permissions of the translator, Larry Zappia, from the original Italian script by Ugo Betti (1946).
