Event description

Description

On March 27th, 2020 The Community Safety and Wellbeing Unit at The City of Toronto will be bringing together administrators and staff (principals, vice-principals, social workers, safe school advisors and guidance counselors) in a forum to discuss how community violence can negatively impact student success and feelings of safety at school.

The focus of this event is to promote an understanding of the impacts of community violence, while unpacking the historical context to your respective Neighbourhood Improvement Areas (NIA). Additionally, we hope to foster a space where educators can meet with localized community leaders who can collaboratively assist in supporting students through the trauma(s) of community violence and/or to promote student wellbeing. We hope to explore how we as stakeholders can strengthen our relationships to support students in a coordinated manner that is equitable, inclusive and without barriers.

Please join us for registration and continental breakfast at 9:30am. Formal agenda to commence at 10:00am. We look forward to engaging you in meaningful conversations and arriving to tangible solutions.

Lunch will be provided.
