Description

And, it's back for year three!

The Deep-End Weekend is a two day workshop bringing together dancers trained in Indian classical dance styles with artists of all disciplines, at all stages of their careers, for stimulating conversations, and joyous, surprising collaborations. It is about artists talking to artists, sharing inspirations, experiences, and insights, gleaned through practice.

The Deep-End Weekend takes place over two days:

Saturday July 7 - A Day in the Life: Keynote presentations. Leading Canadian artists speak personally about “a day in the life” of their practice. What inspires them? What sustains them in moments of creative uncertainty? How do they see themselves in the Canadian artistic landscape? With guest speakers Cole Alvis, Franco Boni, Sylvia Hamilton, Gitanjali Kolanad, and Enakshi Sinha.

Sunday July 8 - A Season in a Day: Making work together. A playful experiment in collaboration with dancers, choreographers, actors, directors, playwrights, poets and musicians. You and your collaborators have all day to create a work, shop for props and costumes, rehearse…and then perform for an audience. Expect the unexpected! With Team Leaders Peter Chin, Suma Nair, Zab Maboungou, and Gerry Trentham.
