Description

Have you struggled with compulsive eating? Do you find yourself in an endless cycle of dieting, binge eating, and shame? This 10-week support group can help. Using a Cognitive Behavioral Approach, our trained facilitator will guide participants through topics such as:

  • Finding Your Hunger
  • Delaying
  • Reducing and Stopping Binge Eating
  • Body Image
  • Resilience
  • Building a Positive Attitude
  • Assertiveness
  • Distorted Thinking Patterns

The format with include small group work, large group discussion, take-away homework, debriefings, and reflections.

No diagnosis or doctor's referral is necessary, Our groups are intended to provide support to those at any stage of recovery.

NOTE: EDNS' support groups do not provide treatment or therapy.

Eating Disorders NS's peer support groups offer a supportive and safe environment where people experiencing an eating disorder or disordered eating can share successes, gain insights and strategies, and find hope. These pro-recovery groups are facilitated by trained peer mentors for Eating Disorders NS, who have recovered from an eating disorder themselves.


Registration Fee

There is a registration fee of $50 for 10 sessions. This fee helps EDNS cover the cost of offering the group (facilitators, materials, space) and is meant to help make our programs sustainable over time. It is also an investment that reflects your commitment to the group and your recovery.

FAQs

Are there minimum age requirements to register?

Our groups are most appropriate for persons over 18.


What can I bring into the group?

Refreshments like tea and coffee will be available. Please do not bring any other food or beverage.


What will happen after I register?

EDNS will contact you to arrange a time to talk about your expectations for the group, and to share the group guidelines and pre-group survey.

Cancellation Policy

Programs have limited enrollment to ensure maximum benefit of all participants. We often have waiting lists for our programs. If you are not sure that you are ready for a group, or cannot attend the full session, please consider registering in a subsequent session.

If you cancel with a minimum of 2 weeks' notice, you will receive a refund equal to half the registration fee.

If you cancel with less than 2 weeks' notice, you will not receive a refund.
