Description

Free Parent Info Session for all parents of District 43 students (your children in Grades 10/11/12 are welcome to attend with you but you must register them as well). All parents regardless of your children's age are encouraged to attend.

Online registration is required for everyone attending.

Topics Covered:

  • How social media apps facilitate sexual exploitation & sextortion
  • How exploiters are grooming our children & youth, online, & ways to keep safe
  • Image sharing & sexting; an issue in every school
  • Recent trends in peer to peer exploitation
  • TCO will be presenting pieces from their grade 4-12 workshops

Guest Speakers - Children of the Street Society (TCO):

  • Tiana Jacquet (Program Director): Using her background in Psychology & Counselling alongside her extensive knowledge on the issue through working with sexually exploited youth & women, Tiana joined Children of the Street Society to oversee their cornerstone youth based prevention programs.
  • Hayden Averill (Workshop Facilitator): Is a recent graduate from the University of the Fraser Valley, who has experience working with the Community Justice Institute in Langley. He is also a member of Reconsiliation Langley. Hayden's past experience includes running reconciliation groups to youth & facilitating critical discussions.
  • Anisha Phillips (Workshop Facilitator): Recently graduated from Queens University with a Bachelor of Arts. Has experience working with Kamloops Women's Resource Society.

Doors open at 6:00pm, session runs from 6:30-8:00pm.
