The Fifth Reel Presents: FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF feat. CHILD ACTRESS
Sat, 14 May 2016, 10:00 PM
Celebrate the 30th anniversary of John Hughes' classic film of rebellion and stickin' it to the man* (*Principal). Summer is on the horizon, school is over, so take the day off and party with your pals in the Fifth Reel.
"High School senior Ferris Bueller skips school and spends the day in downtown Chicago along with his girlfriend Sloane Peterson and best friend Cameron Frye. All the while creatively avoiding his school's dean of students Edward Rooney, his resentful sister Jeannie ,and his parents."
Before the movie CHILD ACTRESS will be playing you some music! "Child Actress is Rena Nicole, musician/artist/female sound guy from Calgary, Canada. Rena has been an multi-instrumentalist performing with bands such as Pressure Kill Common Style, Manchild, Gold, Extra Happy Ghost, Modern Aquatics, The Shematomas, and Burnt Shrines over the past 13 years. After the sudden death of her partner Rena spent a year writing whatever music instinctively came to mind with the resulting collection being a surprisingly colourful set of dreamy pop/post punk/rock songs with fewer dark undertones than one would expect of work done in grief."
Hosting for the evening will be the always hilarious, never a dull moment, THE KINKONAUTS! Prepare to be dazzled by their hilarious antics and mind bending challenges. Past highlights include human-proton-pack ghost hunting, Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation contests, and life sized rock em sock em robots. One can only guess what they have up their sleeve this time.
As with all Fifth Reel events we will also have beer for sale in the lobby which you'll be able to enjoy in the theatre while you watch the movie!
$9 Early Bird tickets if you order before April 30th!
$10 for members of The Fifth Reel/Calgary Underground Film Festival/UofC Film Society
$15 for non-members (Free Fifth Reel memberships will be available inside the theatre for those who want to become members for next time)
FIFTH REEL HOUSE RULES:
Audience participation and dressing up is always encouraged. Yelling, cheering, jeering, quote a long. are all also highly encouraged. Past screenings have been as loud and as rowdy as the last house party you've been to. The Fifth Reel is an interactive movie going experience, the audience makes the fun. If you expect to sit on your hands in silence for two hours then this might not be for you...
