The Manmeet Singh Bhullar Lecture Series and the Arts Distinguished Speaker Series at Mount Royal University present The Gift of Our Wounds: A Sikh and a Former White Supremacist Find Forgiveness After Hate, an evening with Pardeep Singh Kaleka and Arno Michaelis.
On August 5, 2012, a white supremacist walked into the Sikh temple in Oak Creek Wisconsin and shot five men and one woman to death. Arno Michaelis was the founder of the white supremacist group to which the shooter belonged. Pardeep Singh Kaleka’s father was one of the shooter’s six victims.
Since then, Pardeep Kaleka and former white supremacist Arno Michaelis have joined forces to found Serve2Unite, an award-winning international peacebuilding and educational initiative.
Kaleka and Michaelis are activists, educators, and writers. Arno Michaelis is a filmmaker, commentator, and television host. Pardeep Kaleka is a former police officer and is currently a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in trauma. Pardeep and Arno have received multiple awards for their activist work.
