Learn about the many uses of the trees. Make a pine bark & needle basket, sample tree teas & foods, make glue, rope, and how to ID.

About this Event

** If you register for the “The Art of Fire & Water in Survival” workshop on, Sunday Sept 22, receive a $30 refund (happens after initial registration) and pay only $139 for both workshops.

Come learn and connect with the many gifts we are given by the trees of the Algonquin region.

In this one-day workshop you will have the opportunity to

  • Make a pine bark berry basket, including learning how to harvest and process tree bark and conifer roots for the stitching.
  • You will also learn to process conifer resin into natural glue,
  • Learn how to make rope from tree and plant fibres,
  • Start a pine needle coil basket,
  • Sample the tastes of several different tree tea's and foods,
  • Learn how to identify and build a deeper relationship with many of the tree species of this region.

This course will be taught by Wild Muskoka team member Chris Gilmour, a wilderness skills instructor and naturalist with 12+ years teaching and guiding experience.
