Event description

Description

Join local Beatles expert and author, Piers Hemmingsen, on this walking tour in downtown Toronto. The walking tour will stop at various landmarks and retrace The Beatles’ route when they played Toronto in 1964. From fans camping outside the King Edward Hotel to The Beatles arriving for their concert at Maple Leaf Gardens in a police paddy wagon, Piers will highlight these stories and more to show The Beatles connection with Canada.

The walking tour will be capped off with a discussion and Q&A with Piers and a chance to win a Beatles poster signed and numbered by Piers. Ticket holders (please bring your ticket) will all be given a gift bag including John Lennon style glasses provided by The Beatles Story in Liverpool and Visit Britain. Details of the tour’s starting location will be sent to ticket holders. End times are approximate. The tour will take place rain or shine.

Piers Hemmingsen is the author of the new book The Beatles in Canada - The Origins of Beatlemania! A well known Beatles historian, he was born in England and has been a Beatles fan since 1963. Follow Piers @BeatlesinCanada.

The GREAT Beatles Walking Tour of Toronto takes place as part of UK Trade & Investment’s 12 Days of GREAT, 29 October - 9 November 2015, in Toronto, showcasing links between the UK and Canada.
