The Middlesex London Food Policy Council and Growing Chefs! invite you to join them in supporting a national school food program for Canada!
About this event
Did you know that Canada is the only G7 country without a national school food program?
THE GREAT BIG CRUNCH is a national movement and annual moment of anti-silence for those passionate about food to make noise for healthy school food - literally - by crunching together. Every year since 2008, Canadians from coast to coast have participated in the Great Big Crunch, an original initiative of FoodShare Toronto.
This Thursday, March 11, join representatives from local schools, municipal and federal governments in a virtual show of support for a national school food program. You'll learn why a school food program is important and hear about a local Farm-to-School Pilot Project. Grab an apple (or carrot, or other healthy, crunchy food) and be ready to make some noise.
Guest speakers include: Erin Mutch, TVDSB and Karen Rogers, LDCSB, Grade 9 student Grace Crunican, Middlesex County Warden Cathy Burghardt-Jesson, London Mayor Ed Holder, London City Councillor Michael van Holst, London West MP Kate Young, Elgin-Middlesex-London MP Karen Vecchio and London-Fanshawe MP Lindsay Mathyssen, and London North Centre MP Peter Fragiskatos.
