Celebrating its 30th year, the Gryphon Trio has firmly established itself as one of the world’s preeminent piano trios, garnering acclaim and impressing international audiences with its highly refined, dynamic, and memorable performances. With a repertoire that ranges from traditional to contemporary and from European classicism to modern-day multimedia, the trio is committed to redefining chamber music for the 21st century. Violist Ryan Davis combines his rigorous classical training with folk, electronic, and hip-hop music inspiration for an original creative fusion. The three-time JUNO Award-winning trio will take audience members across the rich emotional landscape and distinct character of Ludwig van Beethoven's 'Ghost' trio, known for its mysterious and powerful musical elements. Gryphon pianist Jamie Parker and Davis will perform English composer Frank Bridge's Two Pieces for Viola and Piano, known for its beautiful melodies, emotional depth, and the intimate interplay between the two instruments. The trio and Davis will combine to perform Johannes Brahms' chamber canon masterpiece Piano Quartet in G Minor, op. 25, full of emotional depth, technical mastery, and captivating musical themes.
