Description
5 years, 45 events, 200 artists, and 500 workshops have all been leading up to this.
From August 23rd to September 4th, arts, culture and legacy will merge like never before for THE HEARD FESTIVAL.
The Heard will be hosting a week of prolific events at Daniel’s Spectrum to celebrate Black culture and showcase the incendiary, often overlooked talent in Toronto’s arts scene.
And we’re going ALL IN this time #ForThePeople.
EVENTS:
SAWUBONA (Tuesday, August 23 - Sunday, September 4)
A photography showcase exploring the many facets of the Black experience, featuring Ruddy Roy & Kenneth Montague.
RIGHT BESIDE YOU: Common Bonds (Thursday, August 25)
A spoken word multi-arts installation brainchild of David Delisca. Using live musical performance and multi-media arts to revolve around the theme of friendship and exploring the bonds of those relationships.
An evening of dope vibes and deep rhymes, featuring David Delisca, Unbuttoned, Ian Keteku, Tasha Receno and Blues.
YOUNG PARIS LIVE AT THE HEARD (Friday, September 2)
About Young Paris (Via FADER)
Young Paris, the artist and dancer born Milandou Badila, was born in Paris to Congolese parents. These days, he lives in Brooklyn and travels the world performing his own music, a blend of sounds representing the distinct elements of all the different places he's ever called home. Today, Young Paris is premiering African Vogue, a full-length project co-produced by Ben Bronfman. Its 10 tracks maintain a dancefloor-ready pace, driven by rumbling bass, crisp synths sounds, and rhythms that indeed span geography.
