Trying to settle in a new environment is difficult and frustrating process for all new immigrants and their families, no matter how well prepared and well received they are. Foreign-trained professionals face additional challenges when trying to establish themselves in the new country. Very often they feel their knowledge and experience are not sufficiently recognized and that they have to start again from the scratch. Do not despair, here is what you need to know.

Guest Speaker Ivan Martinovic Archdesign Architects

Toronto-based architectural consulting practice providing a wide range of architectural, design and urban planning services. He also teaches in the Ryerson University's undergraduate and graduate architectural programs, OCAD University, RAIC Syllabus Program, and Centennial and George Brown Colleges. Ivan is actively involved as a volunteer in various professional and community organizations. He was a Board member of the Canadian Architecture Certification Board for two terms, holding positions of Treasurer, Vice-President and President.

His presentation will be on:

Guest Speaker Ali Jabbari Stantec Architects

Ali is an architectural planner, project lead, and design lead with 15 plus years of experience in the practice. Through an internationally diverse and unique career he offers an extensive understanding and experience in wide array of architectural practice aspects such as project management, planning, schematic design, construction drawings /documents and QC. He was a teaching assistant and a lecturer at architectural department of the IAU University in Iran from 2004 to 2011. Ali is a professional practicing architect as well as a published author and blogger who has a deep understanding of the labour market challenges in his field in Canada. Ali will share his unique approach to building a career in architecture that focuses on a targeted job search that helps individuals achieve their professional and personal potential.
