Join us for our first Beyond Bytown lecture of the year as we sit down with The Chateau Lafayette’s General Manager, Deek Labelle, to discuss the history of bar culture in Ottawa. Learn more about Ottawa’s oldest pub – dating to 1849 – as we consider the beginnings of bar culture and its evolution over the years to become what we know today. The discussion will explore the different habits, activities, drinks, and anecdotes of the oldest bars in the city, generation by generation. Start off the New Year with the Bytown Museum and Deek Labelle, drink of choice in hand!
