The Human Impact of Technology
Event Information
Description
Niki Pryor
Product Manager
Verafin
From 'being good at math' to studying engineering is a pretty typical natural progression. But for Niki, over time, that engineering degree provided opportunity to blend her analytical side with her interest in solving human-facing problems with a career in product management. Similarly for Verafin, engineering naturally led a group of friends to develop an algorithm for the mining industry; this algorithm then evolved into a solution for the financial technology industry, which is helping law enforcement identify potential human trafficking organizations. In this talk, Niki will tell the story of pushing the natural boundaries in career and technology and will connect the dots between how technology can have a positive impact on real, human-facing issues.
Niki is mom to a logical thinking 8 year old daughter and a sensitive, dare-devil 5 year old son. With over 14 years of experience in the high-tech sector, Niki's career adventures have taken her from optical communications to Newfoundland's vibrant start-up community to fin-tech. Early in her career, Niki had the opportunity to rotate through a variety of roles which identified her passion for blending her technical background with a customer perspective via Product Marketing. Niki is currently a product owner at Verafin focused on defining and developing software solutions for fighting financial crime.
