The Japanese-Canadian Redress Experience – Righting Injustice
Wed, 26 October 2016, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM EDT
On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF), the CRRF in partnership with the JCCC is please to invite you to a panel discussion: “the Japanese Canadian Redress Experience - Righting Injustice: bringing people together for a better future” on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The event will be a panel discussion featuring Art Miki, a dignitary involved in the Redress agreement.
It has been 28 years since former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Art Miki signed the Japanese Canadian Redress Agreement on September 22, 1988. Learning from the experience of Japanese Canadians, the panel will explore the meaning of reconciliation and reflect on our past, learn from it and carry those lessons into the future, and we will explore action plans for the future to bring communities together.
The event will be open to community members, including Japanese Canadians, government officials, corporate and public sector leaders and practitioners.
Refreshments will be served.
The CRRF's Annual Public Meeting will be held as part of the agenda.
