Event description

Description

Toronto and Region Conservation and their partners Evergreen and Crazy Dames invite you to the unveiling of THE LIVING CITY, a new sustainability-inspired art exhibition at Evergreen Brick Works. THE LIVING CITY is a collection of art based on The Living City Report Card. Seven artists from the Greater Toronto Area worked collaboratively with environmental experts to each create a unique work inspired by one of the themes of the report card: carbon, air quality, waste, water, biodiversity, land use, and regional collaboration. On Thursday, November 23, we will be unveiling the art and introducing you to the artists, the experts and the unique artworks that respond to environmental and sustainability issues.

Agenda

6:30 pm – Doors open

7:00 pm – Opening remarks – Pat Koval, Chair of The Living City Foundation

7:30 pm – 8:30 pm – Networking reception and guided art tours

Guests are invited to join local artist Vivian Wong throughout the evening to help co-create the seventh exhibition piece – an installation of flying fish made of reclaimed sailcloth representing the theme of ‘regional collaboration’.

THE LIVING CITY exhibition helps bring The Living City Report Card’s call to action to a broader audience in order to catalyze the transformation that is needed to make our region truly sustainable. This opening event is aimed to start a conversation between an unconventional cross-disciplinary mix of people – environmental champions, artists, civic leaders, scientists, and social innovators – about how we can collaborate to realize a sustainable future for the Toronto region.

For directions to Evergreen Brick Works, please click here. The Evergreen shuttle bus will be extended to the end of the event. THE LIVING CITY exhibition will be on display at the Brick Works until the end of the year after its unveiling for the public to enjoy.

We hope you can join us for this exciting event.

Sincere regards,

Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA)
