About this event
The Migrant Workers Exercise is a participatory workshop where participants take on the role of a migrant worker in Canada and are led through some of the stages of exploitation many workers experience- recruitment, arrival in Canada and harsh realities of inhumane living and working conditions, among others.
For years, migrant workers coming to Canada have been subjected to exploitation. They are often underpaid, overworked, and abused. Systemic shortfalls in Canadian immigration policies, including the Temporary Foreign Workers Program and closed-work permit system, enable these abuses.
This experiential exercise is meant for anyone interested in learning more about migrant worker issues in Canada.
The Collaborative Network to End Exploitation and The Mary Ward Centre hope that participants become inspired to reflect upon themselves and demand systemic change.
