Event description

Description

You are all invited to join us for an informative evening with Lisa Matthews from Combination Healing (http://www.combinationhealing.ca)on the topic of chronic pain. Why is it so challenging to heal from chronic pain?

Far too many people struggle daily with chronic pain, and often it can feel like a never-ending maze to find healing. Lisa gets it, she’s been in that place too. Over our evening together, she’ll be sharing some of her experiences with chronic pain and what she learned along her healing journey.

In this talk, we'll discuss how changes in the nervous system, as well as traumatic experiences contribute to the creation of a chronic pain pattern. We'll talk about how emotions and thoughts also perpetuate pain. She’ll be including some steps you can take to find healing by reconnecting with your body through awareness, resourcing, and other takeaway tools.

SPEAKER’S BIO

Lisa Matthews is a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist and Registered Nurse. Her own journey with chronic pain led her down a path of learning how to consciously reconnect with her body, while listening to the wisdom within it. She's an avid cyclist and skier who is passionate about helping others get back to doing what they love in life.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on way to help shift your body into self-repair mode. She tunes into your physical and energetic body and feels into patterns that are present there (such as from accidents, stress, or traumatic experiences). She then helps your body reconnect to its own innate healing wisdom, while honoring the deep interconnections between your body, mind, and spirit. This process helps to calm the the nervous system and to bring it into greater balance. Many people say they go into a meditative-like state during a session, where they experience an increased awareness of their body sensations, or that they receive intuitive insights that help them in their lives. She often works with people in chronic pain, with migraines/headaches, and with anxiety, though BCST is also helpful to simply relax and unwind.
