This timely and thoughtful forum for discussion and collaboration aims to raise awareness of issues of particular importance to women in academia, as well as provide an opportunity to reflect on the ways gender affects experience in the academy.

Guest speaker, Dr. Steven Vamosi

Professor of Population Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences, & Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Faculty of Science.

Dr. Vamosi will discuss some of the barriers and biases that are impeding gender equality in the academy, as well as best practices for recruiting, retaining and support female faculty and staff members. He will also provide information on current campus initiatives for ensuring women, and persons from other traditionally underrepresented groups, are provided with equitable opportunities at the University of Calgary.

All Kinesiology faculty, staff and graduate students are welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided.
