ABSTRACT: The need for accessible, culturally appropriate palliative care services for First Nations communities is a growing social obligation and an emerging Canadian policy priority; however, there is very little research to specifically inform palliative care delivery in First Nations communities.
Dr. Kelley will share findings of a five year project showing the value of local community development, regional partnerships, education and community empowerment in addressing gaps in palliative care services for First Nations communities.
This research was funded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research.
