Event description

Description

Dr. Laurie Marker is back!

Cheetah are the most endangered big cat in Africa. Dr. Laurie Marker, the world’s leading expert in cheetahs will share her amazing work with cheetah for more than a quarter century in Namibia.

Dr. Laurie Marker is Founder and Executive Director of the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF). Hear about her work to address the threats facing the cheetah and other wildlife in sub-Saharan Africa, including loss of critical habitat, human-wildlife conflict, and poaching of cheetahs. Protecting biodiversity is best done when communities are engaged in conservation solutions. These solutions include providing education and tools to help people improve their livelihoods.

One of the hallmarks of CCF is their use of livestock guarding dogs to protect farmers’ herds, thereby reducing the killing of cheetah by farmers. Rumour has it that we’ll be joined by one breed of these dogs, an Anatolian. So, once again, dogs saving cats!
