FAQs

Will the authors' books be available for sale?

Absolutely! After you hear an author speak, you will want to buy a book & have them sign it.

Visit the Evergreen Brick Works' Book Ride shop next to Cafe Belong during the month of August and ensure you have a copy as limited quantities will be available on the Book Ride itself. Brick Works authors will be signing at approximately 1:45 pm at the Brick Works stop and read location.

We are also thrilled to have bookstore partners throughout Toronto. Our Book Ride books are available in bookstores near you during the month of August. Visit your local independent bookstore and bring your book(s) to the Book Ride. Please shop local at:

A DIFFERENT BOOKLIST 777 Bathurst Street (east side / south of Bloor Street)
ANOTHER STORY BOOKSHOP 315 Roncesvalles Avenue
BOOK CITY 348 Danforth Ave (west of Chester Avenue)

Your 2017 Book Ride tshirt is really cool! Can I buy one?

Yes, we'd love for you to own a Canadian designed (Gravity Inc) & manufactured (Hardboiled) Book Ride tee!

We will have them available for $20 CASH or $21 CREDIT CARD (square charges a surcharge).

How will you carry a stock of tshirts on bicycle?

We have the pedal powerful Featherstone's Two Wheel Delivery hauling our Limited Edition tshirts!

Is the Book Ride family friendly?

Yes! The festival is open to all ages and riders of all levels.

Is it a difficult bicycle ride?

The Book Ride is accessibile to all levels of cycling. The event is purposefully designed to be a welcoming and safe experience for beginner cyclists.

What if I get a flat tire on the trail?

We have you covered with Fraser The Mechanic from Curbside Cycle as he will be cycling with us on a Cargo Bike in case anyone needs a repair!

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

We encourage riding your bike to the event. If you are arriving by car, you can meet us at the second stop of the day, at the Evergreen Brick Works, and rent a bicycle from Sweet Pete's Bike Shop.

We are interested to know where you are coming from because this ride is to raise awareness about the lack of cycling infrastructure linking to our natural trails. Please send us an email before or after with any feedback about your trip to the Book Ride.

What should I bring to the event?

A bicycle, a bicycle lock, water, snacks, an open mind, cash/credit card if you'd like to purchase a book or tshirt, a picnic blanket because the first & last rides as the seating will be on the grass and of course a smile!

What are our options for food and drink during the event?

We encourage our participants to bring snacks and water for the day. Food and snacks will also be available for purchase at the Evergreen Brick Works when we arrive there at 1pm.
We are hoping for more to announce but I don't want to whet your appetite too much!

Are there washroom facilities on the route?

Yes. You find washrooms at the Brick Works and Corktown Common.

How can I participate in the ride if I don't own a bicycle?

We have two options to rent a bicycle along the ride. At 1:00pm our ride will arrive at the Evergreen Brick Works. There you can rent a bicycle.

Quantities are limited. Please reserve your adult rental bike at the Evergreen Brick Works from Sweet Pete's Bike Shop. Please visit their website here and ensure you arrive with enough time to secure your bicycle before the program commences.

Kids bikes can be rented at the Evergreen Brick Works from their Bike Works shop. To reserve please email bikes@evergreen.ca ideally 48 hours prior to the ride.

Do I have to join you for the entire ride?

No! Although we prefer to have guests join us for the entire day, you can meet us at any one of the stops throughout the day.

Do I need to print my FREE ticket?

No. We'll have you on a list of who's coming & that's enough!

What happens if it rains?

A rainbow will come out! Honestly, we are not made of sugar so bring a rain poncho. Our Brick Works location is inside so you will be completely dry there to see Robert Burley's visual presentation.

But truly we know you'll bring the sun!

Please note PROGRAM IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
