The Reading Line, Toronto's favourite literary festival on two wheels, returns in 2017 with a very special day in the Don River Valley.

Join us on Saturday August 26 for our FREE Book Ride, which brings you a multi-stop group bicycle tour along with some of the most prominent voices in Canadian literature.

We are thrilled to share our 2017 Program:

11:00 am LOCATION: Children's Peace Theatre

If you have rented a bicycle from Sweet Pete's or Brick Works there will be volunteers to cycle back with you along the trail.

Will the authors' books be available for sale?

Absolutely! After you hear an author speak you will want to buy a book & have them sign it.

Visit the Evergreen Brick Works' Book Ride shop next to Cafe Belong during the month of August and ensure you have a copy as limited quantities will be available. Authors will be signing at approximately 1:45 pm at the Brick Works stop and read location.

There will be Book Ride Pop-Up Shops in bookstores near you ... list to be confirmed.

Your 2017 Book Ride tshirt is really cool! Can I buy one?

Yes, we'd love for you own a Canadian designed & manufactured Book Ride tee!

We will have them available for $20 CASH or $21 CREDIT CARD (square charges a surcharge).

How will you carry a stock of tshirts on bicycle?

You will see Featherstone's Two Wheel Delivery hauling our Limited Edition tshirts!

Is the Book Ride family friendly?

Yes! The festival is open to all ages and riders of all levels.

Is it a difficult bicycle ride?

The Book Ride is accessibile to all levels of cycling. The event is purposefully designed to be a welcoming and safe experience for beginner cyclists.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

We encourage riding your bike to the event. If you are arriving by car, you can meet us at the second stop of the day, at the Evergreen Brick Works, and rent a bicycle from Sweet Pete's Bike Shop.

We are interested to know where you are coming from because this ride is to raise awareness about the lack of cycling infrastructure linking to our natural trails. Please send us an email before or after with any feedback about your trip to the Book Ride.

What should I bring to the event?

A bicycle, a bicycle lock, water, snacks, an open mind, cash/credit card if you'd like to purchase a book or tshirt and a smile!

What are our options for food and drink during the event?

We encourage our participants to bring snacks and water for the day. Food and snacks will also be available for purchase at the Evergreen Brick Works when we arrive there at 1pm.

Are there washroom facilities on the route?

Yes. You find washrooms at the Brick Works and Corktown Common.

How can I participate in the ride if I don't own a bicycle?

We have two options to rent a bicycle along the ride. At 1:00pm our ride will arrive at the Evergreen Brick Works. There you can rent a bicycle.

Quantities are limited. Please reserve your adult rental bike at the Evergreen Brick Works from Sweet Pete's Bike Shop. Please visit their website here and ensure you arrive with enough time to secure your bicycle before the program commences.

Kids bikes can be rented at the Evergreen Brick Works from their Bikeworks shop. To reserve please email ideally 48 hours prior to the ride.

Do I have to join you for the entire ride?

No! Although we prefer to have guests join us for the entire day, you can meet us at any one of the stops throughout the day.

Do I need to print my FREE ticket?

No. We'll have you on a list of who's coming & that's enough!
