Event Details

The Road to a Poverty-Free BC: Connecting Communities for Upstream Action is a series of workshops where local community members can share their knowledge and strengthen their ability to work for meaningful change. The workshops can also set the stage for a dialogue between communities in BC.

Trish will facilitate a community workshop on story-telling and effective advocacy, providing an opportunity to strategize about how we can work together to make systemic change in tackling poverty. These events are part of a province-wide tour. Come and hear success stories, learn practical skills and connect with other communities around BC.

Everyone welcome!

  • People living in poverty and their allies
  • Service providers, community organizations or others who work directly with those in poverty
  • Anyone who wants to make meaningful change!

Lunch provided. Other supports to attend available on request.

Co-hosted with the City of Revelstoke Social Development Committee.

BC Poverty Reduction Coalition

The BCPRC includes community and non-profit groups, faith groups, health organizations, First Nations and Aboriginal organizations, businesses, labour organizations, and social policy groups. We have come together around a campaign aimed at seeing the introduction of a bold and comprehensive poverty reduction plan from the government of British Columbia that would include legislated targets and timelines to significantly reduce poverty and homelessness. We seek to improve the health and wellbeing of all British Columbians.

We have over 50 Coalition Members and almost 400 supporting organizations with a collective membership of over 500,000 that have joined the call for a poverty reduction plan.
