Event description

Description

Join Suzanne Smoke, Alderville First Nation Bear Clan, as she shares teachings on the Seven Stages of Life. Suzanne will speak about the importance of the preservation of and connection with Cultural knowledge through life, expanding on her instrumental role in creating a First Nation art program for youth to engage in the true history and magnificent contributions of First Nations Peoples.

Suzanne Smoke resides in Georgina, and is a Cultural Knowledge Keeper, and a Curator of that knowledge within her community.

This event is associated with Markham Reads. Markham Reads is Markham's biggest book club- an annual celebration of books, ideas and community. Every year, we invite readers to pick up a book that will inspire conversations across the city, and promotes reading and dialogue through shared experience. Our selection for 2017 is Nobody Cries at Bingo by Dawn Dumont.
