The Story of Plastic: Free Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion
Event Information
About this Event
You’re invited to a virtual community screening and panel discussion of an important new documentary: The Story of Plastic. Georgia Strait Alliance and Asparagus Magazine are thrilled to be co-presenting this film by Deia Schlosberg, which exposes the plastic industry’s environmental, climate, justice, and health impacts on both a global and local scale.
Here’s how it works:
The screening and panel are FREE, but you must register.
A week or so before the panel discussion, we’ll email a screening link for the documentary to everyone who registered (make sure you register with an email address that you check). You get to watch on your own time, any time before our panel discussion starts. The screening email will also include a Zoom link for the discussion.
On Thursday, December 3, at 7 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, we’ll reconvene on Zoom for a thought-provoking panel discussion. The documentary screening link will expire when the discussion starts.
Our panel will be moderated by Vancouver-based journalist and Asparagus contributor Francesca Fionda, and feature local experts on a range of plastic-related and climate justice issues, including: Anjali Appadurai from Sierra Club BC, Davin Boutang from the Binners Project, Tanya Otero from The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, and Yamila Franco from Nyoka Design Labs
We hope you can watch the film and attend our live panel, but you’re welcome to register even if you can’t attend the discussion. You can still screen The Story of Plastic, and we’ll make a recording of the panel available for subsequent viewing.
