The Alberta South Area Council are proud to announce that we will be joining all other local area CITT Councils in supporting the Terry Fox Foundation in its ongoing effort to fund innovative and progressive cancer research programs. On September 17th, we will be taking part in the Terry Fox Run.

But that is not all: Join us for a great family event to celebrate a true Canadian hero and do it as part Canada’s 150ths birthday celebration.

Team CITT: Lets Team Up, be bold bring your family and run for research!

Where: The home site for us will be - Telus Spark! CITT Members and CCLP candidates, family and friends from anywhere are welcome to join our team, and run with us. If the home site is not convenient for you, you are welcome to choose another site and still be a part of Team CITT. Simply sign up as part of Team CITT and pick your site.

Why RUN? Well, you don't have to run to be part of the team! Join the many walkers and bikers! And yes, this amazing event is kid friendly, whether in a stroller or on a bike, children of all ages will have a good time!

About the Run: The Terry Fox Run is a non-competitive event accessible to anyone with no entry fee and no minimum pledge. Participants of all ages and abilities can run, walk, blade or bike and most of all have fun while raising funds for cancer research in Terry’s name.

Run Day Details

Registration: 8:30 am Opening Ceremonies: 9:30 am Official Start: 10:00 am

Location: Starts and ends at the TELUS Spark, with the route traveling along the river.

Featuring face painting, music, BBQ and special presentation by Canadian Olympians!

All runners will also receive free entry to TELUS Spark, Calgary’s Science Centre! 220 St. Georges Dr NE.

Route distance: 1 km, 5 km or 10 km.

Dogs and bicycles are welcome on the run route and in the outdoor plaza of TELUS Spark. You will need to register inside to get a participant ribbon, then you can enter the gate (south of the main entrance) with your dog or bicycle.

Interesting Facts: Starting on April 12, 1980 when Terry first dipped his articficial limb in St John's harbour more than 715 million dollars has been raised for research. Terry Fox Runs take place in thousands of communities across Canada and are well known as one of the largest fundraising events in Canadian history due to the millions of students who participate from their own schools every year.

Fundraising: All proceeds of this campaign are going to the Terry Fox Foundation fund, in support of their amazing cause. Every dollar counts! Dress Code: A smile! Running shoes, weather appropriate clothes. No suits and ties. Lets run for research this time!
